Police Commission elects Dion as chairperson

NH AUBURN — Auburn Police Commission elects David Dion as chairperson and reviews federal reimbursement tied to immigration enforcement participation. Commissioners Bergeron and Rossino voted to elect Dion chair, with Dion abstaining. The commission received extensive public comment on the department's 287g federal immigration enforcement participation.
Chief Chabot reported $152,000 in reimbursement from the Department of Homeland Security, including $100,000 for transportation and $52,000 for information technology, with another $52,000 expected in June. Lieutenant Cashman reported 941 calls for service last month with 133 motor vehicle stops, 15 cases and 3 arrests. The department is planning a Drug Take Back event April 25 and a K9 demonstration May 7.
